The Brave Guests
One windy night a group of travellers wanted to put up in Nasreddin’s cottage。
Even though he had very little to eat or drink， he immediately welcomed them all like long lost relatives。 He brought some food and made tea。
Having served the food and the tea， he thought it would be more pleasant for his guests if there was a light in the cottage。 So he took out an old oil lamp and tried to check to see if there was any oil left。
Since it was so dark he could not see into the lamp， so he lit a match to see by。
Of course， as soon as the flame came near the lamp a great fire went up from the oil and set the roof on fire。
All Nasreddin’s guests ran outside and immediately put out the fire。
Nasreddin cried out， “Thank Allah for sending me such brave and quick thinking guests！ If it were not for their help my cottage would have burned to the ground！”
參考譯文
勇敢的客人
一個夜晚，颳著大風，一群行路人想在納斯雷丁的茅舍裡過夜。
儘管自己沒有多少東西可以吃喝，但他還是馬上像久違的親戚似的歡迎他們。他給他們買了些食物，並且沏了茶。
招待他們茶飯後，他覺得如果茅舍裡面有燈的話，客人會更舒適。於是他拿出一盞舊油燈，想看看裡面是不是還有油。
因為太太黑，他看不見油燈裡面，所以他劃了一根火柴好看清楚。
當然，火苗一靠近油燈，一團大火就從油上冒起來，把房頂點著了。
納斯雷丁的客人都跑出去，馬上撲滅了火。
納斯雷丁喊道：“謝謝真主給我派來那麼勇敢、頭腦敏捷的客人！要不是有他們幫助，我的茅舍就化為灰燼了。”
